Shiseido Advanced Super Revitalizing Cream Review

This is some Rambo-level moisturizer. It has the rich texture of custard, and it doesn’t sink in in seconds like some wussy cream. But just have some patience, turn on a meditation app, and chill: Because on the driest, coldest, most miserable days and nights of the year, this cream will guard you against becoming a human raisin (at least on your face; tempted as you may be to smear it all over, this cream is not cheap).

This cream has a very unique kind of texture. Despite many reviewers who thought this was lightweight, I actually feel like it’s quite rich and thick, like it’s very concentrated. In any case it absorbs immediately, is SUPER moisturizing without causing any breakouts. I call it a “softener” because it really does soften my skin and gives (especially on the edges of my eyes and forehead where I am started to develop some fine lines) a “soft focus” effect, which is wonderfull.

Not only will you look considerably younger and less crepey and line-y in the short term, but recent research has found that deep hydration and maintaining the skin’s delicate lipid layer, which locks in moisture, are key factors in warding off the environmental damage that leads to collagen and elastin destruction over time.

I find that many products either cause breakouts or do nothing in terms of hydration. BUT the first time I tried this which was a year prior, for the first 8 or 9 days my skin looked amazingly glowy and dewy but then the breakouts started. I was so disappointed!

I have never been able to achieve the glowy, dewy look I got the first time around but at least it keeps my skin from getting parched to the point of looking like the floor of a desert and I can slather it on without breakouts.

It only takes a pea sized amount. If you have oily skin, I wouldn’t recommend it. It would be great for dry skin however. Using at night, I can still feel it on my skin in the morning. It has a very neutral smell and color. This would be great to layer over a serum.

I’m always on the hunt for the perfect products that will give me that elusive glow so I’ll keep looking and experimenting but for now this will do.

KEY INGREDIENTS:

Vitamin B and yeast extract (promote cell turnover and collagen production); Super Bio-Hyaluronic Acid N (moisturizes)

HOW IT LOOKS/FEELS/SMELLS:

This thick, slightly pink-tone cream smells like a giant bouquet of flowers—like, the bouquet your significant other would bring you if he or she had really, really effed up. So if flowery scents aren’t your thing, this moisturizer won t be, either.
